The FFE brings together a global network of FinTechs to collaborate on best practices in financial crime risk management.

By sharing information on criminal typologies and controls, members help to strengthen the sector’s ability to detect and counter the global threat of financial crime.

FFE membership is FREE and accessible to all FinTechs.

The FFE Story

The FFE was established in January 2017 by FINTRAIL and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). Once a small roundtable, its global members now meet monthly to share information and insights on an ongoing basis. The FFE produces white papers for its members and stakeholders in law enforcement, government and financial services.

The global scope of financial crime and the shared threats faced by all major FinTech hubs particularly underscore the need for a global FFE network, which will give its members not only a trusted place to exchange information but also access to an increasingly far-reaching network of resources and perspectives.

Industry Collaboration

We all agree that working collectively is the only way to make headway in the fight against financial crime. To that end, the FFE has been proud to participate in numerous industry initiatives, working with a range of private and public sector organisations:

The FFE has been publicly cited by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a forum for firms to discuss intelligence and emerging threats, and share their findings and preventative measures.

The FFE has participated in the National Crime Agency (NCA) SAR Reform Programme monthly sessions, and in a number of working cells of the National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) Public-Private Partnerships.

The FFE is a proud member of The Global Coalition to Fight Financial Crime (GCFFC), a public-private coalition with the aim of enhancing the fight against financial crime globally.

The FFE took part in Europol’s European Money Mule Action EMMA 6, a worldwide operation against money mule schemes. With the support of the FFE, 4,031 money mules and 227 recruiters were identified, and 422 individuals were arrested worldwide.

We have formed a ‘FinTech Financial Crime Policy Group’ in partnership with the Royal United Service Institute (RUSI). The group has hosted sessions with HM Treasury, the Home Office and the Payment Systems Regulator on amendments to the Money Laundering Regulations, AML regime effectiveness and authorised push payment (APP) fraud mandatory reimbursement.

The FFE has partnered with Kodex to produce a Law Enforcement Data Request Portal, where members receive DPA requests from law enforcement agencies in respect of ongoing investigations, enhancing public and private data and intelligence sharing.
