Meet, Justine Walker
Justine has held specialist positions with the UK financial sector regulator (Financial Crime Division), UK Treasury’s Counter Terrorist and Proliferation Financing Branch, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Central Asia) and until 2019 was the Director of Sanctions Policy at UK Finance.
She has served as a national expert on preventing the illicit financing of weapons of mass destruction, is the former chair of the European Banking Federation Sanctions Expert Group, and has acted an independent sanctions expert to the UN and other bodies on humanitarian payment channels. Justine previously formed part of the UK delegation to the Financial Action Task Force, and has been an International Monetary Fund advisor on the Nigerian anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing capacity building program.
On behalf of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion and under the auspices of the German G20 Presidency, Justine prepared the special report on access to finance for forcibly displaced persons. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews and an M.Sc. from the University of Edinburgh
